Snapshot of three transient souls - narrator Selim, a young professional with his eye on a transfer to Manhattan; his somewhat more sympathetic uncle Nasuhi, who arrives out of the blue from half a lifetime's exile in Russia, seeking what remain of his roots; and Olga, a Russian girl after her wandering father. Both the men are self-absorbed, but Nasuhi's the one with a character and a past, and it's shame the film doesn't spend more time with him. The plot, such as it is, turns on the trio travelling from Istanbul to the old Aegean farmhouse Selim wants to sell, although there's much to admire about the film's contemplative space and pace.
