Bamboo Gods and Iron Men

Time Out says

Uninspiring if innocuous offshoot of the kung-fu genre, made in the Philippines. The story revolves around some hokum about a false-bottomed Buddha in which is concealed the secret of the centuries - how to dominate the world. Supposedly novel twists are wrung on the situation by making the tourist couple who are drawn into the bizarre situation rich, young and black (genial performances, incidentally, from Iglehart and Washington). The humour is misjudged, and if the Philippine locations bring a little freshness to the film, it remains one of those efforts an audience watches in disbelief.
