Time Out says
Small boy with heart condition finds (to music) that 'he has a friend in Ben', which is more than the audience is likely to have. Carried on from Willard and its wonder rat. The rats next door make their presence known, and Ben leads them to a safer life in the drain, helped by this same small boy (with heart condition). The whole nature-rising-against-man fable becomes a kind of sub-Disney lark. Ben himself is a sleek well-trained creature. Can't say the same for those who dreamed up the project.
