Time Out says

Of all the films which have so far been made about the black community in Britain, this one comes closest to telling it how it is. The thesis is that the black community in Britain is the most oppressed section of an oppressed working class. The fact that young blacks reject their decreed role in the country's social and economic structure has meant that the state has been obliged to use a number of devices to reinforce its intentions, including the police, the judiciary, the media and the schools. The whole picture is linked by a number of interviews with activists in the black community, which means that the picture which emerges is an authentic black view of affairs. British TV could have, and should have, done this years ago.
