Part love letter and part shady sales pitch, this profile of biochemist Stanislaw Burzynski—who claims to have isolated a miracle cure for cancer, which he both administers and sells—is less an ode to a medical messiah than a grudge match between bias and tedium. Director Eric Merola takes us inside the doctor’s world of atypical procedures and adoring patients; numbing montages of medical records and courtroom videos represent the various legal battles launched by the FDA. Through all the fuzzy science, Merola sees a savior; you’ll see a dull editorial masquerading as objective reporting.—S. James Snyder
