Time Out says

One of many bastard-children indies that claim kinship to Wes Anderson’s character-driven quirkiness, this baseball comedy centers on Calvin Marshall (Frost), a sociopathic college student who eats, sleeps and breathes the game. No one has the heart, however, to tell Marshall that he sucks. Still, this anti--A-Rod catches the eye of the star volleyball player (Lombardo); her flirtation with his coach (Zahn) quickly results in a Rushmore-lite love triangle. It’s neither outrageous nor poignant enough to stand on its own feet; when you don’t care about the character who gives a movie its name, you’ve got terminal problems.—Simon Abrams
