Time Out says

2 out of 5 stars

“This is bad—this is really, really bad.” So proclaims Gray Wheeler (Garner) upon learning that her dead fianc, Grady—killed in a vague accident before the film opens—had an affair and a son with a dizzy erotic masseuse (Lewis). The news is delivered by Grady’s slick best friend (Olyphant), and our grieving heroine—abject for the first half hour—soon falls for him. Writer-director Susannah Grant plies a few time-tested romantic clichs and trots out Kevin Smith for comic relief, but Catch and Release, like poor Grady, is sadly lifeless.
