A TV movie theatrically released in Britain. Despite traditionally atmospheric touches in the direction, a disappointing adaptation which boasted of going back to source in Bram Stoker's novel but lets Richard Matheson's script stray into silly infidelities and inventions. Radically miscast, Palance does have his moments as a Dracula mourning his lost love, but misses out on the chance to be romantically Byronic since, with his love reincarnated as Lucy Westenra (Lewis), he is mostly required to rage because she is killed again.
