Drona

Bollywood’s ‘Harry Potter meets Indiana Jones’ is a fantastic failure. Adi (Bachchan) is unaware of his superhero powers as he sings a song in an unnamed Eastern European city. When the camp villain Riz (Menon) turns his mom to stone, our bearded hero transforms into the cross dressing Drona, the ‘lord of the universe’, who must prevent Riz from acquiring the ‘nectar of immortality’ and save the world. Behl’s ambitious and expensive fantasy has no redeeming features: overblown special effects, cringe-worthy dialogue, inane songs, ham acting and unimpressive set pieces. It drones on, taking itself far too seriously without any understanding of the genre it is trying to emulate. Bachchan and Chopra emote by slapping on as much mascara as possible.
