In this uncommonly whimsical picture, Keitel plays either a businessman deranged by the death of his family, or the repository of Elvis's spirit, up and about after a 20-year lay-off. As he heads home to Graceland, he's joined by Schaech (robotic) who nurses a secret grief, and by Fonda as a cheery Marilyn impersonator. The platitudes, the soggy symbolism and cop-out ending are mitigated by Keitel's hardboiled charisma, which survives even a scene where, got up in a jumpsuit and a little cape, he tears into a rendition of 'Suspicious Minds'.
