Annabelle Gurwitch was fired by Woody Allen, and she won’t let us forget it. The former TBS Dinner and a Movie host’s unceremonious dismissal from a play helmed by the iconic director was the impetus for this project, in which she elicits tales of termination from celeb pals Sarah Silverman, Judy Gold and other members of the Aristocrats gang. Though Gurwitch makes a halfhearted foray into investigative reporting, interviewing former labor secretary Robert Reich and visiting a town plagued by General Motors layoffs, the doc works better as a collection of comic monologues than a polemic against pink slips.
