Time Out says

3 out of 5 stars
Opening with the great moment in 1977 when citrus spokeswoman/homophobe Anita Bryant got a pie in the kisser (“At least it’s a fruit pie,” she snorted), Daniel Karslake’s doc on the extent to which Christian families have embraced their gay children does an admirably thorough job of assembling smart talking heads and personal archives. Midway through, however, the movie goes the Bowling for Columbine route and uses a dumb cartoon to explain the possible “origins” of same-sex love. Karslake appears to advocate the “It’s not a choice” line, a cowardly position in an otherwise intelligent movie.
