Time Out says

3 out of 5 stars

Just because she’s got a kid from a previous relationship, and her Pakistani family want to marry her off, it doesn’t mean free-spirited Oslo-resident Mina (Amrita Acharia) is ready to stop living. Finding pleasure in no-strings sex with a not-quite-boyfriend is only a stop-gap solution. How to be a mother, a lover and an aspiring actress all at once?

Acharia’s utterly believable central performance is wise enough to understand that Mina’s impulsiveness is sometimes her downfall, which makes it easy to empathise with her increasingly desperate plight – even if elsewhere the egotistical Swedish film-maker she falls for and her conventionally strait-laced parents are rather two-dimensional.

That leaves this Norwegian film slightly stuck in the same narrative groove, but writer-director Iram Haq shows real insight, and her faith that Mina will somehow find a way ultimately proves quietly affecting.
