Legend of Bruce Lee

Film, Action and adventure

Time Out says

Despite an opening sequence which suggests that what follows may back up the title (a collage of stills and articles, cutting to a suitably heroic training session featuring Lee Roy Lung, the film's 'lookalike' find), this sidetracks into an undistinguished contemporary kung-fu action film whose protagonist is apparently - in an odd confusion of reality and fiction - supposed to be the real-life Bruce Lee. Failing as a homage, and not aspiring to the exposé scurrility of A Dragon's Story, it misses out on every count. Lee Roy Lung masters only the least relevant of the star's mannerisms, and is a very boring fighter, a point underscored by the feeble-looking opponents he confronts. Heavily cut, the film is further burdened with an all-purpose soul score.
