Pompous talent agent Joshua Ross (Moscow) begrudgingly schleps from Hollywood to Central America to lure graying screen legend Jack Palladin (Gazzara) out of retirement for a high-paying cameo role of questionable integrity. The rare project shot entirely in Guatemala, Andrzej Krakowski’s modestly charming culture-shock comedy has an unusual midpoint game changer, as it suddenly mutates into an intimate familial-generational drama. We’ve seen enough movies to know Joshua will stop being a jerk after he learns the true meaning of Christmas, but it’s almost impossible to disparage such genuine warmth.—Aaron Hillis
