A depressing mess. Like Clerks, Smith's first film, it centres on a bunch of teen no-hopers, their lives dominated by sex and pop culture, but unlike Clerks, it never makes them seem any more interesting than the brats you'd find in a John Hughes' flick, just more obscene. 'Truth or Dare' is the TV show which provides the plot with an ostensible climax, but Smith seems to think they're synonymous - this is all dare, and precious little truth. The callow, sub-John Waters shock-comedy might be less tiresome if Smith didn't botch the timing so relentlessly. The funniest bit involves a topless palm reader with three nipples.
