This comedy-romance-thriller has the substance of a midnight snack. Writer and co-executive producer Wayans plays Johnny Stewart, a scam artist who works with his brother Seymour (Marlon Wayans), much to the despair of their dead father's ex-partner on the police force. Along strolls Amber (Dash), a glamorous careerist with a credit card company, and smitten Johnny lands a job in her firm's mailroom to pursue his courtship. His efforts to impress involve stealing credit cards with which to finance a fancy lifestyle; but once caught, he finds himself embroiled in blackmail and violence. Director Macdonald is comfortable with the action sequences, but tension dissipates well before the final bone-crunching shoot-out. Damon and Marlon are at their best in the opening comic sequences, which allow their chemistry to operate, but their pacing is disrupted by the ensuing formulaic thrills.
