Akerman's lyrical chronicle of a heterosexual ménage-à-trois looks banality straight in the face. New to Paris, youngsters Julie (Londez) and Jack (Langmann) experience a summer of love broken only by his nightly taxi round, which leaves her free to wander the streets and strike up an equally sexual relationship with Joseph (Negret), who drives the same cab during the day. Without conscience, Julie flits between lovers, but her willingness to flaunt every morality threatens both liaisons. The performers are attractive, in an androgynous way, but their lack of distinctiveness typifies the film's anonymity.
