Korean pop phenom Rain—best known in America for outdancing Stephen Colbert—trades in his boy-toy charms for badass-action-stud status in this high-tech chopsocky flick. He’s aided in this effort by a cosmetically scarred physique and a stratospheric body count courtesy of his sword. Not that we can fully witness his ninja prowess, mind you: Director James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) films most fights in impenetrable shadow, punctuated by death screams, blood splatters and CGI throwing stars glinting from some unseen light source. Perhaps such phenomenal slaughter is best left to the imagination.—Kevin B. Lee
