Time Out says
The setup is pregnant with possibilities: A New York City gay couple decide that
they want to have children. They set out to find a surrogate mother and end up
with Wen, an obese self-declared witch from Maine. When Wen suffers a
miscarriage and subsequent insemination sessions prove unfruitful, the couple
begin to question whether they're really meant to be parents. Despite these
dramatic setbacks, the documentary remains incessantly cheerful and
disappointingly superficial. Questions regarding what kind of relationship the
trio will have after the baby is born, or whether Wen's teenage son will ever
know his half-sibling, go unexamined; if only raising a child were as
uncomplicated as this movie.
