Plan B
Time Out says
Plan A was for Bruno (Vignau) to get his ex-girlfriend back by asking. That didn’t work, so it’s on to plan B: he’ll make her new boyfriend, Pablo (Ferraro), fall in love with him. The gender divide is clearly narrower in this Argentinian neighbourhood than it generally is in London – young men have female friends, and homosexuality is the object of curiosity rather than scorn – but this still feels like a pretty silly premise, and the charming friendship that develops between the two men is marred by its idiotic beginnings as well as by the film’s funereal pace. The acting, however, is superb: in long takes, Vignau overcomes our dislike of his double dealing while Ferraro displays a sweet vulnerability that could make anyone, male or female, want to kiss him better.
