“Can you feel nostalgic over something that hasn’t happened yet?” ruminates Caye (Pea), the philosophical Madrid hooker in Fernando Len de Aranoa’s understated new film. Though most of her Spanish sisters distrust the flashy immigrant streetwalkers who are stealing their trade, Caye befriends Zulema (Nevrez), a dreamy Dominican beauty who submits to abuse from a civil-service john promising her working papers. Princesas’ plot may ramble, but few contemporary films about the world’s oldest profession avoid prurience—or sentimentality—as gracefully. (Now playing; IFC Center.) — Tom Beer
