Remember the Daze whisks us back to the magical year of 1999, when everything seemed so simple, the future had yet to be written, and Enron stock was going to make us all fabulously rich. Young director Jess Manafort has assembled a who’s who of Gen Y up-and-comers to revisit those halcyon days. Speaking as a crotchety old Gen Xer, though, this film makes me weep for the future of the corny bildungsroman. This dreck can’t even hold a candle to Can’t Hardly Wait and prompts the question: Where’s this generation’s Lloyd Dobler?
