If you like conspiracy docs that apply flakey ‘science’ to overturn assumed truths (often involving the moon or 9/11), then you might dig this film about the 1968 murder of Robert Kennedy. Of course, it was the CIA wot did it – or at least knew more than they let on. Irish filmmaker Shane O’Sullivan contends that Sirhan Sirhan, the 24-year-old Palestinian-American found guilty of RFK’s murder, may have been hypnotised, even though the evidence for this is flimsy and circumstantial.
Unsurprisingly, Sirhan’s brother, Munir, doesn’t think his sibling was capable of such an act, and an expert not-very-expertly concludes that Sirhan was ‘a very hypnotisable person’. On this shaky ground, Sullivan builds a case against three men seen in photos and film footage at LA’s Ambassador Hotel. He backs off by the end of the film and admits – somewhat disappointingly if you’re enjoying the trashy ride – that his three suspects may not have been involved after all. If you can’t be right, at least be wild.
