Time Out says

Based on the popular kids’ toy, this mediocre, off-the-cuff robo-flick is a cliché-ridden ‘Short Circuit’ wannabe. But it’s got one decent feature – a cute knee-high talking android that kids will really warm to. Dismayed at the prospect of having his highly intelligent creation used for illicit purposes, a nerdy inventor (David Eigenberg) hightails it with the robot, setting in motion a chain of events that leads Robosapien to the door of bright kid Henry (Bobby Coleman) and his dysfunctional single-parent family. The little robot is an instant hit, transforming the family’s fortunes and giving Henry a new lease of life. But the corporation’s bruisers are only a few steps behind…Despite the tissue-thin plot, slipshod performances and predictable single-mum family dynamics ‘Robosapien’ is surprisingly easy to endure – a freewheeling kids’ film. Nothing more, nothing less.
