A documentary profile of northern Brazil's peasant farmers, abiding in the face of a dour environment and (unseen) landowners who favour cattle rights over those of poor human beings. This is an honest, face-to-face account (produced by, among others, the Dardenne brothers) that in the main simply listens to what various individuals have to say for themselves, with added glimpses of community customs and rituals. But the lack of context or overview - there's no explanation of where it's set - is an austerity measure too far.
