The Rugrats and their folks are marooned on an uninhabited tropical island after their rust-bucket cruise ship goes down. While the adults re-enact Lord of the Flies, their infant progeny explore the local flora and fauna, following in the footprints of Nigel Thornberry, himself on the trail of big cats. Everybody ends up lost, audience included, which may be just as well as there's not much here you could identify as a plot. The Rugrats get the lion's share of the screen time, which means we get potty humour and snickering with a soupçon of environmentalism. Not to mention Iggy Pop, Chrissie Hynde and The Clash on the soundtrack, homages to Jaws, The Poseidon Adventure and Taxi Driver, and 'odorama' scratch 'n' sniff cards - a process ripped off from John Waters, though the only aroma I could detect was cardboard.
