Time Out says

2 out of 5 stars

This brief yet plodding primer on the shoddy trial and subsequent execution of two Italian immigrants charged with a 1920 Boston murder wears its currency on its sleeve. Footage from Guantnamo and Iraq is interspersed with scenes of Sacco and Vanzetti (whose letters are read, respectively, by Tony Shalhoub and John Turturro) in shackles, and interviews with historians and some seniors who remember the event. It’s an apt comparison, but somehow the revelation that our present atmosphere of intolerance and civil-liberties erosion is old news fails to embolden the viewer.
