Time Out says

Like a stumpy limb requiring quick cauterization via steam pipe (our first cringe), the Saw series is begging for closure. This seventh installment is reportedly the last one---do we actually trust horror producers now? If so, the series ends with an underwhelming thud. Tobin Bell's gravelly moralist (who had an enjoyable flourish in Saw VI) is now torturing a "Jigsaw survivor" who faked his encounter and spun the lie into a best-seller and support group. That does sound promising, right? Alas, the humor never materializes (even when a yappy publicist gets it) and the death traps lack the wit of earlier entries.
