Now you tell us. In fairness, it’s not that WWE stars like Kane don’t make for persuasive hulking psychopaths, or that former hard-core porn directors like Gregory Dark can’t transition to mainstream horror exploitation. Rather, it’s the overall murk, both conceptual and literal, that dulls the brain. Occasionally there are flashes of unwitting humor: The flick’s sexy teens, trapped in an abandoned hotel, happen to be prison inmates on a work program (!), but still with access to jewelry, civvies and hair-care products. One of the brattier victims is forced to swallow her ringing cell phone, and the kill is strangely satisfying. (Now playing; click here for venues.)—Joshua Rothkopf
