Time Out says
Sheriff Ronald E. Hewett of Brunswick County, NC, puts his faith in the law, the
Bible and firepower. Kraus's short, no-frills profile is a model of
fly-on-the-wall filmmaking: no narration or music, just Hewett reasonably going
about his business. In one sense, it's a blinding glimpse of the obvious: Like
almost everyone else, Hewett is more complicated than he first appears. But in
these fiercely polarized times, there's no downside to a reminder that not every
beefy, God-talking sheriff is a bigoted cracker itching to throw your Yankee ass
in Hellhole County Jail.
