Time Out says
It's safe to say that Audie Murphy was the only film star to have killed 240 men, and here we catch him just a few years after his wartime tribulations, trying his luck in Hollywood. He marches into the frame like a good soldier and duly recites his lines; but he's nowhere near an actor and, despite the baby faced looks, a slightly disturbing presence. This is a characteristic example of the sort of juvenile-oriented Western in which he made his name. Burl Ives, as Lonesome the Hermit, sings 'The Ballad of Suzie the Whale' and such, while Tony Curtis, being groomed for stardom, looks cool in a black hat. The location scouts have assembled a choice assortment of geography for Russell Metty's camera to celebrate.
