Time Out says

Rózsa's reputation in Hungary is founded on a series of Ken Loach-like problem pictures of which Sunday Daughters, a story of delinquent girls in a remand home who are fostered out on Sundays to long-suffering guardians, is easily the strongest. Performances are passionate, and while Rózsa's direction is at times over-dramatic, there's a keen sense of social criticism on show here, which will surprise those who subscribe to the view that movies in Eastern Europe can only attack the system through allusion or allegorical comedy.
