Time Out says

It seems that some reality-TV shows are actually just vehicles for talentless nobodies, exploited by careless network execs for their exhibitionistic navet. Did we mention the dramatic character-depleting transformation that occurs when one wins a Survivor-like competition, and the opportunistic hangers-on who must be kept at bay? If any of these revelations come as a shock, then Greg Pritikin’s mockumentary about an obese convenience-store clerk (Panes) and his brush with fame succeeds as a mordant send-up of our unhealthy obsession with celebrity. Otherwise, the uneven satire stops being funny after about, uh, 15 minutes. (Opens Fri; Village East.) — Erin Clements
