Time Out says

Director Davaa’s follow-up to The Story of the Weeping Camel uses a family of nonprofessional Mongolian actors to tell the tale of a little girl (Batchuluun) who finds a stray dog and brings it home to the summer yurt. Imagine the Disney classic Old Yeller as shot by Robert Flaherty (Nanook of the North) among the nomads of Mongolia; beneath Cave’s apparently simple surface is the chronicle of a vanishing way of life.
