The Grudge 2

Time Out says

Since Hollywood’s first Grudge film proved an unwittingly hilarious imperialist fantasy (Buffy gets pursued by creepy ghosts in Tokyo!), this second installment initially seems a lot more ambitious, bouncing between three narrative strands: a mourning sister (Tamblyn) bent on getting answers; a trio of schoolgirls spooked by a haunted house; and a Chicago boy (Knight) intrigued by his neighbor. Alas, the extra density has zero payoff. All avenues lead to the same croaking, black-mopped beasties—themselves a joke by now. One day, these two American remakes will be seen as shockingly xenophobic, no matter that they happen to be made by the original Asian director.
