The Guardian

Time Out says

The armed service’s best-loved branch gets the lukewarm-leftovers treatment in this routine actioner that at least has its heart in the right place. Costner, at his Steve McQueeniest, plays a seasoned Coast Guard rescue swimmer assigned to teaching recruits after he botches a mission; he encounters an equally driven/haunted trainee (Kutcher, absurdly miscast but a funny foil for Kev) and the manly-man healin’ commences. It’s hero-mongering hokum from the get-go, but these days only a spoilsport would condemn a pro-military movie that advocates saving lives instead of snuffing them.
