Ken Sykora was a British jazz guitarist, composer and radio presenter – and by all accounts a modest, deeply private man who eschewed the spotlight. Which might explain why he is so little known today. This documentary promises to fill the gaps. In the 1950s, readers of Melody Maker voted Sykora, who died in 2006 at 82, Britain’s top guitarist five times in a row. By the 1960s, he was presenting a BBC radio show, Guitar Club, inspiring a generation of guitar players. In a 40-year career he broadcast over 3,000 programmes. Sykora’s children, friends and colleagues are interviewed, alongside recordings of his performances and broadcasts.
