The Marine

WWE Films flexes some flabby pecs with a charley horse of an action movie, starring pro wrestler Cena as a former marine special-ops soldier trained in Semper Fi smackdowns with Al Qaeda but forced into early retirement thanks to by-the-book officers. An accidental run-in with a homicidal jewel thief (Patrick) leads to the kidnapping of the jarhead’s wife (Carlson) and a body-blow vigilante pursuit through the swamps of South Carolina. Hailstorms of bullets, rampant property destruction and countless steroidal fireballs offer twitches of excitement but little else. (Now playing; Click here for venues.) — Stephen Garrett
