Time Out says

4 out of 5 stars

Under the devious guise of cultural exchange, Danish documentarian Mads Brgger leads a crack comedic duo deep into North Korean territory for a bravely gonzo travelogue. Uniting Sacha Baron Cohen's daredevilry with Werner Herzog's bombast, Brgger aims to expose "the evilness of North Korea" with a gloriously incoherent, kazoo-and-whoopee-cushion--inflected stage show starring a self-proclaimed "spastic." (The comedian's straight-man partner surreally serenades giggling, picnicking North Korean schoolgirls with Oasis's "Wonderwall" at one point.) They're genially forced to get their anarchy under control, even to participate in an anti-American demonstration that undermines their subversion---but proves Brgger's point.
