The Sun Also Rises

Time Out says

Lavish but lifeless adaptation of Hemingway's novel about the 'lost generation' of expatriates who hung out in Paris after WWI. King's plodding direction and the miscasting of Power as the impotent, thrill-seeking hero are major handicaps. Singer/actress Greco's sympathetic prostitute is a scene-stealer, Gardner is stunning as the lubricious aristo whom Power falls for, and Flynn - in his penultimate screen role - is delightfully self-mocking. Even so, only the occasional sequence, such as the running of the bulls at Pamplona, achieves any real excitement.
