Time Out says

2 out of 5 stars

Thrill-seeker George Mallory vanished after being spotted 800 feet from the summit of Mount Everest in 1924. Although it would take another 30 years for someone to officially reach the top, climbers have long speculated that Mallory may have gotten there first. That mystery motivates director Anthony Geffen and pro climber Conrad Anker to don historical gabardine and retrace the Englishman’s steps, proving that, even at 26,000 feet, period reenactments are still cheesy. There’s inherent drama in watching a person amble up a mountain, but it’s an act of bad faith to oversell a stunt.—Eric Hynes
