Drawing on virtually unseen footage shot by visionary Andalucian José Val de Omar in the 1960s and ’70s, Eugeni Bonet here crafts a collage that goes some way towards fulfilling Omar’s dream of a ‘cinematic vibration’, an image exchange between the earthbound physical and the soaring transcendent that would alter, and unite, levels of consciousness. Kicking off with shots of architectural details, and the tramping of tourists, in Moorish gem the Alhambra palace, it lifts through document into delirious color overload as the world yields to hallucinatory abstraction and full sensory immersion.
