Miranda Richardson narrates the tale, following the amazing story of a baby loggerhead turtle from her birth on a beach in Florida to her return to the very same beach to lay her own eggs 25 years later. When the turtles break out of the sand and struggle towards the sea, assailed by crabs, we’re witnessing just the first in a series of natural and man-made challenges they must overcome. Beautiful cinematography is a given. We wondered how they created the footage – I guess it’s lucky turtles all look pretty alike to us humans, though their mums might think differently. As the nine year old observed, ‘So the turtle never meets its mum and dad, then?’
