If nothing else, the religious zealots who oppose abortion rights sure
have a way with prefixes: One pastor featured in this rough-hewn doc on
the “pro-life” movement barks through a bullhorn about “your pre-born
neighbor.” Horribly organized and hampered by too many technical
gaffes, Unborn in the USA still feels necessary. As its first
intertitle reminds us, the Supreme Court’s decision in April to uphold
the partial-birth-abortion ban was the first major victory for the
pro-life movement in 35 years. That and the fact that even a wickedly
smart comedy like Knocked Up refers to abortion as “the a-word.”
