Who Killed Nancy?

Even die-hard Sex Pistols fans won’t be able to resist gobbing all over this conspiracy-theory doc about the murder of famous rock girlfriend Nancy Spungen, a homicide long attributed to punk legend Sid Vicious. So does director Alan G. Parker present an alternative what-if scenario? That would depend on whether you view tedious testimonials, Hot Topic--ish graphics and tasteless re-creations as investigative journalism. (And would it have been too much to sub in generic soundtrack music that isn’t the polar freakin’ opposite of the Pistols’ punk?) Simply casting doubts isn’t the same as making a compelling counterargument—or crafting a coherent film.—David Fear
