Writer-director Tyler Perry has always belonged to the school of “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” and this saga of drama-addled couples doesn’t stray far from the broad humor and platitudes of its 2007 predecessor. Angela (Smith) is convinced her spouse is cheating; relationship expert Patricia (Jackson) can’t handle her own marriage; Sheila (Scott) deals with an unemployed husband. Burdened with a bevy of unlikely plot twists, this is less a movie sequel than the latest installment in a big-screen soap opera.—Lisa Rosman
