Time Out says

A virtual remake of 1942's Orchestra Wives, this Fox musical has small-town high school student Crain swept off her feet by bandleader Dailey and only to discover at length the difficulties of Depression life on the road and the ups-and-downs of the record industry. A half-decent script means you're not twiddling your thumbs between the production numbers (a raft of jazz standards), but Levant steals it entirely as the band's cynical manager and even puts in a storming, if abbreviated performance at the keyboard for Gershwin's Piano Concerto in F.
