Staying here means feeling the sea breeze while enjoying dinner in an alfresco garden surrounded by lush trees: a true waterfront experience that feels nearly impossible to find these days for the same price or cheaper.

Along with a private room within the bungalow, the stay also offers a cook for meals apart from an equipped kitchen. Security and a cleaning service ensures safety and privacy, especially for solo travellers. Perhaps the best part of all: the place is pet friendly and allows more long-term stays (more than 28 days), making the garden a rare delight for cats or dogs.

Why we love it: There isn’t much to explore outside apart from the sea and the sun, which ironically might end up giving you the actual break you need. An entire villa, four bedrooms, a pool, direct access to the beach, and pet-friendly. This villa also offers more long term stays for those looking to stay 28 days or longer. Food and staff can be provided on request.

What is it: A three-bedroom bungalow in an 80-year-old coconut grove right on the beach, with firepits, a pool, sunbeds and alfresco dining areas

Why we love it: The idea is sustainable farm style living, a wifi-free and TV-free zone to enhance the experience of detoxing from city life, with its skyline still in view.  Reviews particularly applaud the seamless check-in process – even at 3am – and the hospitality of hosts Rohan and Jharna, who also live on the farm. They make good on their sustainable practices, with simple yet delicious breakfast and evening tea provided, all sourced from the farm itself. 

Parking facilities are provided as well as options for stays of 28 days or longer. For those wanting to bring pets, they must get along with Coconut, the hosts’ pup who lives on the two-acre property. Either an individual en-suite room or the bungalow in its entirety can be booked.

What is it: A two-bedroom apartment located right between Versova Beach and the Versova Mangroves

Why we love it:  It’s still in close proximity to eateries, theatres, and local cafes in Andheri. The views don’t get more panoramic than this. It’s not just one tiny window in the living room either – you get multiple views of the direct ocean from both bedrooms. The bed in the living room is bohemian (but perfectly functional… don’t worry). Pool and gym access in the building is permitted upon prior host approval, and checking in is a (sea) breeze.

What is it: A penthouse condo in Bandra with a view of the sea that may just be worth the four-floor walk-up

Why we love it: The area itself is a goldmine. It’s located adjacent to Hill Road, home to the city’s best restaurants, cafes, art galleries and more. The condo is decorated with that classic eclectic Bandra charm. Views are also unmarred by abandoned skyscrapers. The apartment has a full bedroom with a loft-style second bedroom, as well as an equipped kitchen and living area with plenty of wardrobe space.
