As Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations continue across the city, the preparations for Ganpati visarjan also start with dhol-tasha processions, modaks, and aartis to give Lord Ganesha the grand farewell he deserves. Ganpati Visarjan marks a conclusion to the eleven-day festival, when devotees immerse Lord Ganesha’s idols in the sea, lakes, and designated ponds while chanting Mumbai’s favourite refrain: “Ganapti Bappa Morya, pudhchya varshi lavkar ya!”
As Ganesh Chaturthi 2026 started on September 14, the final day – Ananta Chaturdashi – Visarjan falls on Friday, September 25, concluding the festival on the twelfth day. On the last day of the worship period, thousands on major Ganpati idols across Mumbai – including Lalbaugcha Raja, Andhericha Raja, Chichpoklicha Chintamani – take out farewell processions heading towards Girgaon Chowpatty, Juhu Beach, Dadar Chowpatty, and many other official immersion points.

What is the Ganpati Visarjan 2026 schedule?
While major iconic Ganapatis in Mumbai immerse on Ananta Chaturdashi on Friday, September 15 – except GSB Seva Mandal Ganpati, whose immersion is done on the fifth day of Ganesh Chaturthi – the other dates for Ganpati Visarjan are Tuesday, Septmeber 15 for 1.5-day Ganapati and Thursday, September 17 for 3-day.
The 5-day Ganpati Visarjan remains popular among many household Ganpati celebrations, which is September 19 this year. The date for the Mid-festival immersion day (7-day) is September 21, which is also celebrated among small neighbourhood mandals.
According to Drik Panchang, the official schedule for Ananta Chaturdashi is as follows:
